Honda of the United States has announced that it will cease production of the Insight compact hybrid vehicle by June. It is likely that the hybrid e:HEV will be replaced by the Civic e:HEV for American customers in the near future.

The Honda Insight, available for purchase in the United States, is now the third generation and was first introduced at the 2018 New York Motor Show on the basis of the 10th generation Civic. The 1.5-liter Atkinson-cycle works with two electric motors, producing a total maximum power of 212 horsepower (HP), giving an average fuel consumption of 52 miles per gallon, or about 22.1 kilometers per liter according to US EPA standards.

Honda recently announced that it will cease production of the current Insight model in June. without specifying that there will be a new version to replace But it is possible that Honda will bring the Civic e:HEV to market instead in the US. which, according to European specs, will come with a gasoline engine 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle and 2 electric motors provide maximum power, including 184 horsepower, maximum torque of 315 Newton-meters, giving a fuel consumption of not less than 20 km / liter according to the WLTP standard.

However, sales of the Honda Insight will be discontinued in the near future. It might not be a bad thing. Because Honda itself has been spacing the market for each generation Insight models from time to time, with the first generation being sold between 1999 and 2006 before the second generation was released. This followed in 2009-2014, while the current model was released in 2018, with production halts planned for mid-2022, so it is possible that Honda may be in the process of developing a next-generation Insight. It is possible next.

While our home has plans to release the Honda Civic e:HEV in June this coming. Which will be positioned as a sub-model above the current 1.5-liter turbo model. and announcing that there will be a price for the top model (e:HEV RS) not exceeding 1,270,000 baht and the secondary top model (e:HEV EL) not exceeding 1,150,000 baht
